Here in Florida we have a lot of influences from Latin America and Spain, thus finding good Cuban food is definitely a must! When I was told to check out D’Cuban Bistro, I had to check it out for myself. We had scheduled a photoshoot to get content, and I also was excited to try their acclaimed dishes.

The Atmosphere

The store itself is very cute, the walls covered in photos of cars and parts of Cuba. They even had a table which you could play dominoes at, each piece adorned with the Cuban flag. Even the outside tables had vacation style umbrellas made from palm frawn looking material. Because of the weather not being the greatest, we opted to sit at a high top table inside. This gave us the opportunity to get some of the natural light from outside and be able to fully get the restaurant’s experience.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”57677″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]

The Food

We had started with two delicious pastries. Both were phyllo dough type pastries, one was filled with cheese the other had a guava paste inside. They were both flaky, delicious, and not overly sweet. The cheese pastry had a similar quality to a cheese danish but in my opinion it was better.

The next thing we tried were desserts. (I know we did lunch out of order but hey it was amazing!) The first one was a flan cheesecake, unlike most flans this one didn’t have a gelatinous quality that you would usually expect. The flavor was rich and surpassed any expectations I had. The next dessert also surpassed expectations. It was a Tres Leches cake. The cake was moist and tasted amazing. It was hard to pick a favorite between the two.

We then tried a few different bestseller dishes. The dishes included a Cuban sandwich, a pork dish, a steak chimichurri, and a grilled chicken. I don’t eat pork because I have an allergy but I tried the other two dishes. The chicken was moist and flavorful. They served it with an amazing homemade cilantro rice. I have never had rice that tasted so good and flavorful before. The steak and chimichurri sauce were good, and I ended up taking home the leftovers for lunch the next day.

The food all tasted great and the owner Angelina takes pride in her food and you can see that is reflected in each dish. The restaurant has a home-y feel because Angelina works alongside her family there. They are so welcoming and are happy to talk about their food.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”57678″ img_size=”full”][vc_column_text]
